Scope: Caller ID Prefixes can be added to phone numbers by Office Managers, Site Managers, and Resellers.
What is a Caller ID Prefix?
When a caller dials one of your phone numbers, agents will commonly see their caller ID before answering their call. Using the Stratus web portal, you can further fine-tune how incoming calls are identified when certain phone numbers are dialed.
✔ This can be useful when you have…
– Multiple phone numbers that you distribute under the guise that they are to be called for different purposes.
– An operator or receptionist that handles calls coming from multiple phone numbers.
Create a Caller ID Prefix
As a Stratus admin, you have the ability to add and adjust Caller ID Prefixes.
To do so…
- Navigate to the Inventory page.
- Click the phone number you would like to have a prefix added onto.
-
✔ Doing so will pop up the Edit modal for the selected phone number.
- In the Caller ID Prefix box, type a prefix or tag that you would like to appear before a caller's caller ID.
Quick Tip: Some commonly used prefixes are…
– The abbreviated name of a state.
– The name or abbreviation of a department or site.
– The last 4 digits of the phone number being called.
- Give the phone number a test call to make sure the prefix in the Caller ID looks correct.
